Actual Self (Louis Toliver Jr - USA/Austin, Texas)

No one is looking at me right now
I can tuck away my projected self
Here in this poem lies remnants of me
Alone in this grey abyss called life
I am addicted to the anxiety of failure
Could a mutt like me possibly ever be pure?
Tough questions on my soulless brain
Or am I just tied of playing Hamlet
My father died long time ago on a bayou
Is it wrong that this makes me happy?
Tough questions on my soulless brain
Or am I just tired of playing dumb
I want to be a millionaire like Trump
I hate the fact that I’m a Hispanic
I hate I don’t know what that even means
Maybe I’m smarter than I think I am
My actual sellf, these remnants of me

Foster Love (Louis Toliver Jr - USA/Austin, Texas)

Picture is taken
Two lovely homes
Two fathers
Two mothers
Living in harmony
Each couple raising a child
Both homes fostered love
All took love seriously
The children were happy
They knew no shades to love
The fathers held their child
The mothers held their child
This is the picture taken
Normlacy and love

Pendulum (Louis Toliver Jr - USA/Austin, Texas)

The pendulum swings back and forth
Santa is South and he wants to come North
People are crowded in the streets staring
The billboards read “Something for Sale”
A couple of sheep buy health insurance
The price of gas is down during this poem
Fear of terrorism is up during this poem
Religion spreads infectious messages
Educaton cures these awful diseases
The pendelum swings back
Everything here is related
The pendlum swings forth
The motion hypnotizes the soul
