Second Class Citizen (Louis Toliver Jr - USA/Austin, Texas)

I pledge allegiance to the United States
The place that has led me to feel like
Just a second class citizen

Sisters are fighting wars “there”
While men, here, still doubt a woman as a strong leader
Just asecond class citizen

Brothers are fighting to love “here”
For a legal piece of paper that doesn’t even say, “I love you”
Just a second class citizen

Just a second (sometimes third) class citizen
That votes like I should

Just a second class citizen
That (for the most part) obey laws

We’re second-rate currencies
So our tax money isn’t good here

Fair and Balanced (Louis Toliver Jr - USA/Austin, Texas)

I was waiting for my oil to get changed
Just thinking about how to live the day
When the I looked at the TV, news on
A woman informing me about the USA
It wasn’t about anything I could relate
To, the unbalance and unfairness I saw
She talked about solutions for everything
Except the homeless, youth with guns,
Raped men, Brave woman, dead souls.
She couldn’t handle it, they can’t handle it
Republican strategist. Democrat too
(sigh) Poor independent  minds like us
We, True Americans, strive to be herders
Not the sheep, that’s the American way

Open Carry (Louis Toliver Jr. - USA/Austin, Texas)

Guns do not know love from hate
They fire from fear or wrath
Bullets fly with grins or tears
We carry undoubtedly the result

Are we open to the consequences?
Will Hate ever love real Love?
What is a gun without a human?
Will questions just fill my head?

Here, we are, carrying our lives
I just cannot see the justification
The certainty of life is this
No god ever used a gun

Concealed Weapons (Louis Toliver Jr. - USA/Austin, Texas)

The Wild Wild West is dead
Gun control is the only control
No bullets flying just because
No standoffs with drunkards
No duels to show off manhood
No toys mistaken by the kids

The times have grown beyond measure
The laws have remained childlike
The wild wild west is dead
Protection comes from the divine mind
Conceal your weapon, my child
There is no need to be afraid

Patriot Acts (Louis Toliver Jr - USA/Austin, Texas)

Four score and twenty hours ago
Grandmother and Grandfather cried
The War was drafting them into the chaos
Today a man is pointing an automatic rifle
Hope it’s for the purpose to protect
Maybe children should learn the fiddle
Steal from the rich and give to the poor
Why now isn’t that left of center
Robin Hood retired but Obama is around
Heroes are overrated by the media
They say lions can soar like eagles
What are we are these days but our actions
